ERG PhD student Will Gorman recently published an article titled “Hybrid Power Plants Are Growing Rapidly, But Are They a Good Idea?” on Green Tech Media. Gorman discusses how though hybrid power plants can have several benefits, there are many limitations and drawbacks to using such technology.
“Interest in hybrid plants is high, and hybridization can offer benefits relative to standalone plants… However, there are also limitations to hybridization, and market rules and policy incentives can make or break the finances of a project,” Gorman states.
