Liyang is a PhD student in the Energy & Resources Group and a Senior Research Associate at Berkeley Lab. Her research interest is at the intersection of decision science, climate science, and infrastructure planning. Specifically, she is interested in approaches that effectively incorporate climate data, account for uncertainty, and consider equity objectives in the electricity grid planning process. Her research aims to answer the question of how to design an equitable and climate-resilient electricity grid as we decarbonize our energy system. Previously, Liyang worked at Eversource as an Energy-efficiency Program Manager and completed a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
Beyond research, Liyang is usually out exploring the outdoors or in front of a pottery wheel at the ceramics studio.
