Chris Kimanga

Chris is a master’s student at the Energy and Resources Group (ERG) at UC Berkeley. His work explores how renewable energy systems, data science, and local governance can be better integrated to support inclusive, climate-resilient development in underserved communities.

Chris is also a Graduate Student Researcher in the Energy Division of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), where he analyzes California’s demand response and grid flexibility initiatives.

Before joining ERG, Chris worked with the County Government of Laikipia in Kenya, where he supported stakeholder engagement, energy planning, and project implementation. He holds an MBA from the United States International University–Africa and a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Nairobi.
