ERG alum Dr. Zeke Hausfather makes the New York Times!
Human activities are the main drivers of long-term warming, sea level rise, and extreme weather. However, with Earth experiencing record-breaking warmth last year, this recent spike in global temperatures since mid-2023 has been unusually high than climate models could have ever predicted. Even with scientific explanations for why this could be, a clear consensus is lacking.
To learn more about how climate science and research contribute to the time and effort in providing a solid explanation of these extreme climate conditions, read Hausfather’s NYT article with Dr. Gavin Schmidt “We Study Climate Change. We Can’t Explain What We’re Seeing.”
