Dr. Chafe works at the intersections of public health, air pollution, climate change, and energy use. She holds a PhD from the Energy and Resources Group (ERG), as well as an MPH from UC Berkeley. She has been a researcher/consultant for entities such as the World Health Organization, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, the Health Effects Institute, and the City of Oakland, California. She served as Chapter Scientist for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) chapter on climate change and human health. Dr. Chafe is a postdoctoral associate at Cornell University’s Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future.
