Sam Evans is a research economist in the Fire and Resource Assessment Program (FRAP) at the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE). Sam specializes in forest economics and policy, the timber and wood products industries, and the economics of wildfire. Sam holds a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Colorado State University. Prior to joining CAL FIRE, he spent 10 years in academic positions at UC Berkeley and Mills College and served as a senior scientist in the forest carbon removal industry.
