ERG Annual Lecture 2026 featuring Isha Ray

June 3, 2026

On April 9, the Energy and Resources Group welcomed Professor Isha Ray as the keynote speaker for the 32nd Annual Lecture on Energy and the Environment. Drawing on more than two decades of research, Professor Ray explored the often-overlooked labor involved in providing safe and affordable drinking water in low-income regions. Her talk highlighted how this essential work remains largely invisible in mainstream drinking water research, challenging us to consider the consequences of that invisibility. By examining the relationship between labor and access to safe drinking water, Professor Ray encouraged a deeper conversation about how recognizing and valuing this work could shape more equitable approaches to water provision.

The evening ended with a congratulatory celebration honoring Professor Ray's retirement from ERG. While she will be greatly missed, her research contributions, passion, and influence will continue to shape the way we think about water and sanitation justice for years to come.
