Colloquium: Zachary Burt

THE ENERGY AND RESOURCES GROUP SPRING 2015 (ER295) COLLOQUIUM SERIES PRESENTS Zach_Burt SPEAKER Zachary Burt (MS’09) PhD Candidate Energy and Resources Group U.C. Berkeley TITLE The Benefits of Clean Drinking Water: Perceptions, Payment and Policy Zach’s research focuses on house­hold water access, treat­ment and use. He draws on data col­lected in the field, uti­liz­ing both quan­ti­ta­tive and qual­i­ta­tive sources. Zach is ulti­mately inter­ested in the bal­ance between sus­tain­abil­ity, equity, health and liveli­hoods and he hopes his work will con­tribute to good water poli­cies which reflect end-user pref­er­ences. His PhD will look at the user pref­er­ences, willingness-to-pay and total net ben­e­fits of on the ground drink­ing water inter­ven­tion projects in rural Tan­za­nia and urban India. Zach served 2 years as a Peace Corps Vol­un­teer in Morocco, speaks Berber and Span­ish, and is actively improv­ing his Swahili.
